AHI Mission Statement

The Association of Heritage Industries will work to raise
awareness of the value of Newfoundland & Labrador’s heritage
resources and of the groups and agencies that are involved in
protecting, developing, and sharing them.  AHI will seek to build
strong links within the province’s heritage community and with
partner groups that include government, educational institutions
and the private sector. AHI will strive to unite the heritage
community so that it may speak with a strong voice on heritage matters.  The application of good planning, and high standards
of heritage practice will be a major priority.

The Association of Heritage Industries (AHI) is an umbrella
organization of provincial heritage groups established in 2000.
Its purpose is to bring the heritage community together to speak
with a strong voice on cultural policy issues.  AHI encompasses
the following heritage sectors:  museums, archives, archaeology, genealogy, built and intangible cultural heritage and history with
ties to the natural heritage community.  Collectively, AHI
represents more than 2,000 organizations, institutions and
individuals involved in heritage work in Newfoundland and
Labrador.

AHI Mandate

To promote the stewardship and appropriate development of
heritage resources; to seek a greater level of support for heritage industries in the Province; and to raise awareness of the value of
heritage resources and the need for appropriate policies and
measures to support them.
